National Community Partnerships Symposium

In follow-up to the round-table discussions, the National Community Partnerships Symposium brought together representatives from each of the round-tables. The Symposium, involving some 150 participants, focused on how a wide range of sectors could best work together in dealing with issues relating to crime prevention, behavioural problems, the youth justice system, and rehabilitation and reintegration. The Symposium resulted in

• a better understanding of the issues associated with the implementation of the youth justice renewal Initiative,
• improved participation by a wide range of sectors in the development of innovative approaches and partnerships for dealing with youth justice issues, and
• first steps in the creation of a concrete action plan on youth justice for use by each sector at the local, regional, and national level.
