SASKATCHEWAN JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED

OTTAWA , March 3, 2008 -- The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:

The Honourable Peter Alexander Whitmore Q.C. , a lawyer with McKercher McKercher & Whitmore LLP in Regina , is appointed a Judge of Her Majesty’s Court of Queen’s Bench for Saskatchewan . He replaces Mr. Justice L. A. Kyle ( Regina) who will be retiring.

Mr. Justice Whitmore received a Bachelor of Laws in 1974 from the University of Saskatchewan, a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University in 1971, and a Doctorate of Canon Law in 2004 from the University of Emmanuel College, Saskatoon . He was admitted to the Bar of Saskatchewan in 1975. Mr. Justice Whitmore has been w ith McKercher McKercher & Whitmore LLP since 1989. He practiced with G.H.M. Armstrong & Associates from 1975 to 1976, with Wilson Drummond & Whitmore from 1976 to 1977, with Lane & Whitmore from 1977 to1985, and with Whitmore Company from 1985 to 1989. Mr. Justice Whitmore has developed an expertise in corporate law, commercial law, financing law and real estate law.

This appointment is effective immediately.
