NEW BRUNSWICK JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED

OTTAWA, March 3, 2008 – The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:

The Honourable Madam Justice Kathleen Quigg, a Judge of the Court of Queen’s Bench of New Brunswick is appointed a Judge to the Court of Appeal of New Brunswick. She replaces Mr. Justice W. S. Turnbull ( Fredericton) who elected to become a supernumerary judge.

Madam Justice Quigg received a Bachelor of Laws in 1989 and a Bachelor of Arts in 1986 from the University of New Brunswick. She was admitted to the New Brunswick bar in 1990. Madam Justice Quigg practised with Robichaud Williamson Theriault Johnstone from 1989 until she was appointed a judge of the Court of Queens Bench of New Brunswick in November 2006.

This appointment is effective immediately.
