ONTARIO JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED

OTTAWA, February 20, 2008 - The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:

The Honourable Andra Pollak, a lawyer with Davis LLP in Toronto, is appointed a Judge of the Superior Court of Justice in and for the Province of Ontario. She replaces Madam Justice Gloria J. Epstein ( Toronto) who was appointed to the Court of Appeal for Ontario.

Madam Justice Pollak received a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1981, attended McMaster University from 1978 to 1979 (Honours Economics), and McGill University (Civil & Common law) from 1976 to 1978. She was admitted to the Bar of Ontario in March 1983. Madam Justice Pollak has been a lawyer with Davis & Company since 2000, and was previously with Genest Murray from 1999 to 2000, and Stikeman Elliott from 1976 to 1999. She has developed an expertise in litigation, primarily in labor and employment law. Madam Justice Pollak is a member of Association des juristes d’expression francaise de l’Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Law Society of Upper Canada.
