SASKATCHEWAN JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED

OTTAWA, February 20, 2008 - The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointments:

The Honourable Geoffrey D. Dufour, a lawyer with Dufour Scott Phelps & Mason in Saskatoon, is appointed a Judge of Her Majesty's Court of Queen's Bench for Saskatchewan. He replaces Madam Justice Y.G. Wilkinson ( Saskatoon) who was appointed to the Court of Appeal.

Mr. Justice Geoffrey Dufour received a Bachelor of Laws with distinction from the University of Saskatchewan in 1987. He was admitted to the Saskatchewan Bar in June 1988. He has been employed with Dufour Scott Phelps & Mason in Saskatoon since 1999. He previously practised with Maclean Keith from 1996 to 1999 and Robertson Stromberg from 1987 to 1989 and 1990 to 1996. His practice expertise is in litigation, and environmental law. Mr. Justice Dufour was a sessional lecturer for Environmental Law, at the College of Law from the University of Saskatchewan in 1992, and the Co-author of Contaminated Property in Canada (Carswell 1997).
